The ADB is looking for breakthrough ideas that will address three critical energy development challenges.

Technology providers are invited to submit a proposal to conduct a proof-of-concept or pilot for a high-level technology solution in three challenge categories:

  • Efficient Heating and Cooling Solutions
  • Renewable Energy-Based Microgrids
  • Artificial Intelligence for Energy Demand Management


The Asian Development Bank will award three grants of up to US$500,000 each to entrepreneurs who can demonstrate innovative technology solutions, subject technology providers co-financing at least 10% of the total cost.

Applications must demonstrate positive impact, novelty, scalability, and value for money.

Proposals are welcome from private entities, not-for-profit, civil society organization, government-owned enterprise, research institutions, or joint venture entities, but all applications must be from entities legally incorporated or registered in an ADB member country.

The deadline for expressions of interest is 12 noon Philippines time on November 15 2019.
